The collection is housed in the Microbial Biodiversity and Biotechnology laboratory (LBBM), which is one of the research departements of the Oceanological Observatory of Banyuls/mer. It uses the technical resources of the Bio2mar Core facility to isolate, identify and characterize the bacterial strains that are maintained in the collection. It also benefitted from numerous research programs carried out by the observatory's researchers who were responsible for the isolation and who have provided information on the isolated strains, whether in terms of activity screening, genome studies or physico-chemical and/or biological properties.
